Description

Kohana, hailing from one of the finest fleece lines at Alpacas de la Patagonia, is a half-brother to the illustrious Celio, the 2013 AOBA National Champion. His dam, Chiachina, is a Vinci daughter, and Vinci is Patagonia's white herdsire, a blue ribbon winner and a descendant of Nishio, the 2004 All-American Herdsire and the 2007 Reserve All-American Herdsire. Kohana's sire, Lennox, an eight-time color champion, is in the top 5% of all animals biopsied for follicle testing by Dr. Norm Evans. At Alpacapalooza 2011, Judge Wade Geese said, "It's impressive that at two years of age, this male carries forward this kind of fineness and density." Kohana's histogram at 2 years of age shows that he had an AFD of 19.7m, an SD of 4.4m, a CV of 22.3% and .30=1.3%. In 2024, Kohana is now 15 years old and still carries a fineness of 22.8 micron fiber. Kohana, known for producing Brown crias, has the potential to produce Rose Gray from Danko, his grandsire. Despite not having the finest fiber, Kohana's fleece is versatile and can be used to create beautiful yarn.
