Kohana, hailing from one of the finest fleece lines at Alpacas de la Patagonia, is a half-brother to the illustrious Celio, the 2013 AOBA National Champion. His dam, Chiachina, is a Vinci daughter, and Vinci is Patagonia's white herdsire, a blue ribbon winner and a descendant of Nishio, the 2004 All-American Herdsire and the 2007 Reserve All-American Herdsire. Kohana's sire, Lennox, an eight-time color champion, is in the top 5% of all animals biopsied for follicle testing by Dr. Norm Evans. At Alpacapalooza 2011, Judge Wade Geese said, "It's impressive that at two years of age, this male carries forward this kind of fineness and density." Kohana's histogram at 2 years of age shows that he had an AFD of 19.7m, an SD of 4.4m, a CV of 22.3% and .30=1.3%. In 2024, Kohana is now 15 years old and still carries a fineness of 22.8 micron fiber. Kohana, known for producing Brown crias, has the potential to produce Rose Gray from Danko, his grandsire. Despite not having the finest fiber, Kohana's fleece is versatile and can be used to create beautiful yarn. Description

Zitan was born on 7/29/17 and is an excellent addition to our ranch. He has beautiful fiber (a 2020 count of 21.8 microns) and good, solid conformation. Zitan's sire is our Kamiak's Kohana, who is a Lennox descendant. His dam is KC's Be Flirty. Zitan was a first-place winner in the walking fleece competition at the Alpacapalooza/CABA show in Portland, OR, on May 12, 2018. In 2019, Zitan took 6th place in the Halter Show. We did not continue to enter him into the show ring. We have, however, sent fiber into fleece shows. At the TXOLAN Fleece Show in February 2021, Zitan placed 3rd. The judge, Amanda Vanden Bosch, said there was "some variation in length, but soft to the hand and lighter in weight." Zitan, affectionately nicknamed Shogun, has been sponsored by the US Navy Carrier Air Wing Division. His pictures can be found in several areas of the USS Abraham Lincoln, the US Navy's carrier ship.
